2020 was the second year in which the new rules applied, separating the entries into categories of traditional SSB/CW contacts, differentiated from Machine Generated Mode (MGM) QSOs. Steve PJ4DX had 131 DXCCs, the most DXCCs on traditional modes, but he has won the Penallt Trophy within the last three years, so the trophy is awarded this year to Norman 5B4AIF/5B6ØAIF with 99 DXCCs, who was just ahead of Nigel 3B8XF with 96 DXCCs.
Norman 5B4AIF/5B6ØAIF had the highest score in the MGM category with 149 DXCCs, but he won the Tindle Cup in 2018 and is not eligible for it this year; the 2020 Tindle Cup is awarded to Nigel G3TXF who worked 135 DXCCs on MGM modes. Several stations, including 5B4AIF/5B6ØAIF, G5LP and G3TXF/3B8XF showed versatility by producing strong results in both MGM and Traditional categories. A quick comparison of year-on-year 2016-20 results is (T signifies Traditional Modes and M signifies MGMs):
